The Food Passport

Food Passport, gifts for him, DIY gift, DIY, gift, homemade gift, Valentine's Day gift, where do you want to eat, food gift, Restaurants, New Restaurant gift, new places gift, gift idea,

I came across the idea for the Food Passport on Pinterest a couple years ago but was waiting to see where my husband and I would settle down at before I decided to made it.  We bought a house August 2014 and our county had several new and family owned restaurants so I couldn't wait to get started on this gift. I decided to give it to him as part of his Valentine's gift this year and since we are both always up for something new but never knowing where to go, it was the perfect gift.

How To:

  • I typed up a list of several restaurants in our county and surrounding areas that we have NEVER been to before along with the restaurants information (address, phone, and hours) into a word document.
  • I then downloaded the free printable from this BLOG and copy and pasted the restaurants and their information onto the template. I added an image to the top of each page to show the location of each restaurant, making it easier to narrow down our decision: do we want to drive 30 minutes or 5 minutes to eat?
  • I created a Passport Identification page to make the Food Passport idea more realistic along with a direction page (see below for directions).
Food Passport, gifts for him, DIY gift, DIY, gift, homemade gift, Identification page, Valentine's Day gift, where do you want to eat, food gift, gift idea,

  • Print out the pages front and back then cut them in half.
  • Cut construction paper to size for your passport's cover.
  • Put them in the order you want with the construction paper on top and staple it in the middle. Fold in half to create your passport.

My Direction Page:
The object of the Food Passport is to travel to new and different restaurants in your area/surrounding counties. It is suppose to help eliminate the question, "Were do you want to eat?" by introducing new locations. Once you have eaten at a new location you get a "stamp" in your passport: DATE IT, RATE IT, AND LEAVE A NOTE! The goal is to eat at all the restaurants in your passport. There are a few blank pages if you would like to add your own. Happy Eating!

The Food Passport was pretty easy to make and there are several different ways you can make it. You can write the restaurants in a cute little notebook or type them up and print them like I decide to do. Make it your own like I tried to do!

Love Note Easter Eggs & Baby Feet Bunny Painting

Since Easter is just around the corner I figured I would share with you guys what I did last Easter for my husband. Last Easter was our first Easter with our baby girl. We attended a helicopter egg drop in our community were she got to meet the Easter Bunny and pet animals at the petting zoo. She was only 4 months old so didn't have any idea what was going on but hey we tried.

We then traveled to our families house to spend time with them but before we left I was able to hide eggs in our apartment for my husband to find when we got home Easter Sunday and surprisingly he didn't see any of them before we left so I succeeded at surprising him. I must of hid them pretty good lol.

The love note Easter eggs are very easy to make and cheap if you are on a budget. The most expensive thing is the candy and you don't even have to include the candy if you don't want to. The hardest part for me was coming up with and finding cute Easter related sayings to put in the eggs but lucky of you, you can just use my sayings1

Easter, easter hunt for him, easter egg sayings, love note easter eggs

Supplies:

  • Plastic Eggs
  • Construction Paper
  • Markers
  • Scissors
  • Candy

How To:

  1. Write Easter sayings and love notes on the construction paper. (list of sayings is below)
  2. Cut out the sayings.
  3. Fill the eggs with the sayings and his/her favorite candy.
  4. Hide the eggs in harder spots. Don't make it to easy, it's more fun to watch him search for them.

I also made this cute bunny painting using my 4 month old's feet and hid it between the cereal boxes for my husband to find. All you have to do is paint your baby's feet and then put it on paper (I used the thick card stock paper so it wouldn't bleed through). I then took a paint brush and painted the circles for the bunny's body. I placed the paint brush in my baby's hand and helped her move it around filling in the body and head. Once it dried I added the face and "Hoppy Easter Dad!"

DIY Personalized Glasses

One of the Bridesmaid's Glasses

Every wedding usually consist of a bridal party and some sort of toast...Right?!?!  I got married May 25, 2014. We had a simple, DIY, rustic type wedding. Since I was becoming Mrs. Martini we incorporated Martini's into the wedding by serving Pixie Stick and Purple Haze Martinis, toasting with Martini Champagne, and using Martini glasses as the wedding party table decorations and toasting glasses. As part of the bridal parties gifts, I made a Personalized Martini glass for each of the members of our bridal party and our ushers to use during the toasts. The glasses were actually pretty easy to make, cheap, and everybody liked them.

Supplies:

  • Glasses- enough for everybody in your bridal party, ushers, and don't forget about the Bride and Groom
  • Puffy Paint
  • Write or Print out of the names in the Font of your choice
  • Masking Tape
*I bought all of my glasses from the Dollar Tree. The Dollar Tree has Martini Glasses, Wine Glasses, and several other glasses all for $1; you can't beat that!!! Everywhere else I looked averaged about $5+ per glass so I recommend checking out the Dollar Tree first, especially if you are on a budget.

How To:

1. Print out or write a list of the bridal parties names the size and font you want them to be.

2. Tape the name to the inside of the glass using masking tape. Masking tape makes it easier to remove once you are finished.

3. Using the puffy paint, trace the name on the glass. If you mess up, wipe it off with a paper towel right away before it dries.

4. Write the date and person's duty on the base of the glass. Let Dry. If you didn't let the name dry, be careful not to smear the name when you write on the bottom of the glass.

- For the Bride and Groom Glass I wrote, "I Do" and the wedding date.
- For the Bridal Party Glasses I wrote their duty (Groomsmen, Bridesmaid, Matron of Honer, Best Man, Usher) and the wedding date.

Optional: You can add a design, monogram, dress, tux, etc... to the glass if you want. I didn't have a lot of room on the Martini glasses so I just wrote their names. Make it your own!

These glasses were cheap and super easy to make. Great for wedding party toast or 21st Birthday party glass!

Pregnancy Announcement Ideas

This is Part 1 of my Pregnancy Announcement Ideas, you can check out Part 2 here!

Fun Fact: Elephants are pregnant for 22 months!

I am due in March with baby #2 and by the time he comes out I would of been pregnant for the last 2 years; aside from the 6 months between the two pregnancies, but 6 months isn't enough time for the body to fully heal... thus making me feel pregnant for the last 2 years. So basically I'm an elephant or at least feel like one lol

For my first pregnancy we waited to announce it to social media until I was almost 20 weeks. We announced it by making the following two pictures our profile and cover pictures on Facebook.

Expected to Pop, Pregnancy Announcement Ideas, balloon baby announcement

I wrote "Expected to Pop" and "December 2013" on two balloons I had already blown up and tied and acted like we were blowing them up for the pictures. The balloons are pink and blue because we didn't know the sex of the baby at the time.

Baby Shoes, Pregnancy Announcement Ideas

The shoe picture was our cover photo minus the Coming Dec. 2013 since we had the month in the previous photo. The red converse we used use to be my husbands baby shoes plus were the only baby shoes we had access to at the time. Reds neutral Right????

Hershey Bars, He or She, Gender revealWe found out the sex of Baby #1 but wanted to have a Gender Reveal Baby Shower so we would get things we actually needed instead of a bunch of clothes. The "He or She What's it going to be?" picture was used on our invitation postcards to our baby shower where we revealed the sex of Baby #1 by cutting into a "Waddle It Be?" cake. We revealed the sex of Baby #1 to our social media friends with the big Hershey bar with the "SHE" colored in.

My husband's parents waited till birth to find out the sex of their baby. When he was born, his father handed out hershey bars with everything covered but the "HE" on them to announce the sex of their newborn baby boy. My husband lost his father when he was a child so we decided to adapt the idea and announce the sex of our first baby using hershey bars in remembrance of his father.

For my second pregnancy, I made a "BIG Sister" onesie for my 7 month old daughter and took a picture of her holding our first ultrasounds. I never posted the picture until now thou... oops... but we had my daughter in the onesie when our immediate family came to help us move and patiently waited until somebody noticed what it said.

(Onesie: Hobby Lobby onesie 30% off and Big Sister Iron on with 40% off coupon = approximately $5)

In October we announced to the rest of our family and social media that we were due with Baby #2 by posting a picture of all of us holding pumpkins with the saying "We're adding a little pumpkin to our patch!" with the due date.
Pumpkins, Pregnancy Announcement Idea, adding a pumpkin to our patch

We found out the sex of Baby #2, met up with our mothers and sprayed them both with blue silly string to announce we were having a boy. Later that evening we went home and sprayed each other with the blue silly string; I made a mini collage and posted it to social media to reveal we were having a boy! I would probably try the silly string on black shirts instead of white so it will show up better.

Hopefully theses pregnancy announcement and gender reveal ideas help you when deciding how you want to announce your exciting news to your family, friends, and social media!!!
