My husband and I have officially been married for two years!!! Today to be exact!!! For our one year anniversary (paper) I made him an A to Z Wedding Anniversary Date Book where we can keep track of what we did on our wedding anniversaries. Since it is our second wedding anniversary the traditional gift idea is cotton. It is harder than you think to come up with a cute cotton gift idea for a guy besides ordering him a shirt. I originally was going to try to create a game on cotton material for him but decided to put together a gift basket where the items in the basket (plastic container) helped spell out the word C-O-T-T-O-N. It is kind of like an acronym for the word COTTON but with small phrases and sayings to go with them instead. I got the idea for this gift on Pinterest so thank you fellow pinners for sharing your anniversary gift ideas!  Of coarse I added my own touch and came up with my own gifts and sayings to go with them to suit our relationship. So when making your Cotton Anniversary Gift Basket, try to come up with some things your husband/wife will enjoy!

My gift basket consisted of cotton candy, two clamps, a cotton t-shirt, a black tie, Q-tips, personalized whiskey glasses, and cotton balls.

I typed up and printed out the letters to spell out C-O-T-T-O-N along with what gift matched that letter and a saying to go with it. I also typed up a short note about how long we've been married and how much I love my husband and attached it to the gift basket.  I used a hole punch and some string to hang my cotton notes above the gifts. You can hang them like I did, tape them to the front of the basket or tape them to the item they go with.

Before you start shopping for items to put in your Cotton Anniversary Gift Basket, I recommend brainstorming items that can go with each letter. If you can't think of an item you can always match it with another word like One, Two, or New. You can buy cotton items that match the letters such as a cotton T-shirt, you can buy items that use the word "cotton" such as a cotton candle, or you can buy any item and just match it to the letter kind of like what I did. Below I made a list of some possible gift ideas you can use in your gift basket. Feel free to comment with other possible gifts to match the letters! I hope this helps you come up with ideas for your husband or wife's Cotton Anniversary Gift Basket!

  1. Great Idea! What did you use to hold up the "C-O-T-T-O-N" sign, in addition to the string?

    1. Thank you, I'm glad you liked it! I used two sticks I had left over from fairy wands but you can use anything you can find - chop sticks, wood skews, sticks, etc... should all work. I then wrapped the string around the top of the sticks and tied it into a knot.

    2. I think I may use chop-sticks. We're sushi connoisseurs! Thank you again for the great idea.
