LulaRoe Part 6: Cover Ups - different ways to style a Lindsay

This is part 6 of a series of blogs I am writing on LulaRoe and the products they make. This blog is going to focus on LulaRoe Cover Ups - different ways to style a Lindsay. No I am not a LulaRoe consultant or a LulaRoe expert and I did not partner with any LulaRoe consultant for these blogs. I just have several of their items and am going to share my opinion about the items I have in hopes of helping you decide whether or not to try that item and if so, what size you may need. Before we get started I want to say that these picture were taken 3.5 months postpartum with my third baby in three years and I am hoping to lose some of my baby weight but in hopes of helping you figure out what size you need, I am 5'7, roughly 150 pounds and currently wear a size 9 in jeans (Juniors section), 8/10 in most dresses. On average I wear a Large from the Juniors section and a Small or Medium in the Women's section depending on how it's made.

LulaRoe has a variety of different cover ups to fit every occasion and season.  Each cover up varies in length, material, style, size and price.

  • Bianka (Kid's but can fit some adults) - $28
  • Joy - $60
  • Lindsay - $48
  • Mimi Wrap Scarf (limited edition Winter 2016) - $75
  • Monroe - $48
  • Sarah  - $70
  • New Kimono is being release in 2017

I've never been huge on wearing cover ups wether it was a shaw or cardigan sweater but I have tried a LulaRoe Lindsay. I have yet to try any of the other LulaRoe cover ups so I will not be touching on them in this blog but you can find out more information about them on LulaRoe's websitelularoe.comor an internet search.

Lindsay Kimono

The Lindsay is considered to be a kimono cover up because it has loose quarter length sleeves and a high-low hemline making it a great item for layering. The Lindsay comes in several different fabrics from polyester to lace. The Lindsay comes in three sizes: Small(0-8), Medium(10-18) and Large(18-22). The Lindsay retails for $48 plus state taxes and shipping. Visit LulaRoe's website, lularoe.com/lindsay-kimono, to see what they say about the Lindsay!

The Lindsay Kimono runs big so go down a size unless you like the extra room when layering. I currently have both a small and medium Lindsay and they both are big on me. I kept the Medium because I liked the color and that it was sheer so figured it would make a cute bathing suit cover! I'm not sure if the fabric plays a roll in the fit because I haven't tried on a bunch of Lindsay's but I can say that my mother ordered a beautiful large lace Lindsay thinking they were true to size and it is big on her so they defiantly run big.  Pictured below is a comparison with a small and medium Lindsay Kimono.  The small doesn't appear to swallow me but it is a little to loose in the arms for my comfort.

Everybody that I've seen wearing a Lindsay has worn it as is over a top but guess what... there are a few more ways you can style your Lindsay. Pictured below are seven different ways to style/hack your Lindsay. You can wear it as is, tie the front, wrap it and belt it, reverse it and turn it into a top (*see below), a top paired with a Cassie (*see below) or hack it to look like two different types of scarfs by tying the arms together and adjusting it to your liking.

To turn Lindsay into a top, reverse it and knot the sides together at the bottom.  Wear a shirt or bandeau bra under it or go with out to show off your back. Add a necklace and you are set

I know the colors don't match perfectly but you can also turn Lindsay into a top by wrapping the material in the front across your body and tucking it into a Cassie Pencil Skirt.

So there you have it, seven different ways to style/hack your Lindsay Kimono. Surprisingly Lindsay is more versatile than I had thought and the best part is that you can make it even more versatile by layering it with whatever you want. Since Lindsay is a cover up, you can literally cover up any article of clothing from tops to dresses to swimwear. Sorry I'm not going to pose in my bikini for you but a sheer Lindsay such as the olive one below would make a great swim cover up. If you aren't huge on the style of the Lindsay, check out LulaRoe's Monroe Kimono for a different style kimono that would also make a great swim cover.

Hopefully this blog helped you get a better understanding of what cover ups LulaRoe has, how they fit and different ways to style and hack your cover ups. As you can tell LulaRoe cover ups all run different. They come in different materials, styles, sizes, and colors - patterns and solids. Keep in mind that LulaRoe clothing is considered unique because they only produce about 2,500 items in a specific print so if you happen to come across a pattern you like I recommend buying it because once it is gone, it may be gone forever. LulaRoe is designed to fit several different body types and all items fit people differently depending on their build and the size of the item. LulaRoe is also designed so that you can fit in several different sizes to give off different looks so if you happen to come across a pattern you love but it isn't your size you may be able to still make it work. Before you buy make sure to check out each item's size chart and how that specific item runs because each LulaRoe item has it's own size chart and some items run big, some run small and others run true to size.

Personally I'm not a fan of LulaRoe's cover ups and I think they are way overpriced, I mean $70 for a long sleeve Sarah Cardigan when I saw a similar item for $15 at Walmart but like I said I'm not huge on cover ups to begin with and I consider myself to be more of a bargain shopper. Overall I would recommend giving LulaRoe a try if you can afford it because some of LulaRoe items aren't that bad. Every item has it's pros and cons and everybody has a different sense of fashion so it may take a while to find an item you really love. If you are still unsure, then visit a "pop up" boutique in your area and try on some different styles to figure out what size and style you prefer for your body type, then go online and join a bunch of consultant's groups and enter contest in hopes of winning LulaRoe or Lulacash that way if you end up not liking the products, you aren't out as much money, if any. I also recommend looking for Muli-consultant sales or consultants that have Bargain Bins, offer free shipping or are in a no tax states to help save a few bucks (It is rumored that LulaRoe is changing taxes to match the shoppers state tax no matter what state you purchase from). If I end up getting any different sizes or styles I will update my blog to help show you the difference in sizes and possibly a few more ways to wear that style in that size. If you are looking for more information on LulaRoe, what other items they carry and how to style them you can check out my LulaRoe related blogs below or you can visit LulaRoe's website, lularoe.com, to find out more information about the company!

Everybody I know that has tried LulaRoe has an opinion on it so feel free to share your's below, all I ask is that you keep it clean!

This is part 5 of a series of blogs I am writing on LulaRoe and the products they make. This blog is going to focus on LulaRoe Dresses - different ways to style Carly, Julia, Amelia & Nicole. No I am not a LulaRoe consultant or a LulaRoe expert and I did not partner with any LulaRoe consultant for these blogs. Dress order from bottom to top: Nicole, Julia, Carly, Amelia
LulaRoe currently has five adult dresses and two kid's dresses.  Each dress varies in length, material, style, size and price. As you can tell in the dress comparison picture, Julia is a straight dress and the others are a little more flowing. Both Julia and Nicole have mid-length sleeves where as Carly and Amelia are short sleeves. Nicole and Amelia are more flowing. The Julia, Nicole and Amelia are all a size Medium. The Carly is an XS.
  • Amelia - $65
  • Ana - $60
  • Carly - $55
  • Julia - $45
  • Nicole - $48
  • Adeline (Kid's) - $30
  • Dot Dot Smile (Kid's) - $36 *discontinued
  • Mae (Kid's) -$32
  • Scarlett (Kid's version of Carly) *COMING SOON - Summer 2017

The prices, $45 to $65, may seem a little high for dresses but if you think about it that is about the average price of dresses in chain stores such as JCPenny, Khols, Macy, Dillards, Belk, etc... sometimes even more. The only differences are chain stores tend to have sales, coupons, etc... allowing you to purchase dresses for cheaper and chain stores usually carry a mass amount of that certain style and size in stock where as LulaRoe does not, thus making them more unique. LulaRoe clothing is considered unique because they only produce about 2,500 items in a specific print so if you happen to come across a pattern you like I recommend buying it because once it is gone, it may be gone forever. Since LulaRoe makes a limited amount of products in certain patterns, you have a less likely chance of running into someone wearing the same dress as you which is a benefit of shopping LulaRoe.

Amelia

The Amelia dress is LulaRoe's only dress with a zipper back and hidden pockets. It also has pleats in the bottom part of the dress making it appear flowing and full. The Amelia is LulaRoe's fanciest looking dress. It is also LulaRoe's thickest dress material wise. The Amelia sizes range from XXS(00-0) to 2XL(22-24). The Amelia retails for $65 plus state taxes and shipping. Visit LulaRoe's website, lularoe.com/amelia, to see what they say about the Amelia!

The Amelia dress runs fairly true to size, if not a little small so I would recommend going up a size, especially if you have a bigger bust. I am an 8/10 in dresses so Amelia doesn't come in my exact size but I can comfortably wear a Medium(10-12) Amelia. I was able to squeeze into a Small(6-8) Amelia but it was a little to tight for my liking, especially in my bust and shoulders, thus making it unflattering on me.

I personally think Amelia is adorable as is but if you want to change it up, here are a couple different ways how (from left to right):
1. As is or add a cute belt, a bow belt would look so cute paired with Amelia.
2. Reverse your Amelia and zip it up to your liking. A reversed Amelia makes for a great breastfeeding dress.
3. Amelia paired with Leggings.
4. Create a bow on the side by making bunny ears with the material, wrap a hair tie around them and spread the bunny ears out. I would not recommend knotting your Amelia because of the pleats and the thickness but this bow is a great alternative and cute in person.
5. Belted Amelia turned into a top but tucking the bottom of your Amelia into your leggings and adjusting the material to your liking.

Amelia is literally the perfect dress for church, weddings, date night, graduation, the office etc... I would defiantly recommend giving Amelia a try!

Carly

The Carly dress is LulaRoe's most versatile dress. The Carly is considered to be a swing dress as it is a very loose and flowing dress. The Carly resembles a long t-shirt style dress with a patch pocket and a high-low hemline. It comes in different materials including leggings material and is super comfortable and stretchy. The Carly sizes range from XXS(00-0) to 3XL(24-26). The Carly retails for $55 plus state taxes and shipping. Visit LulaRoe's website, lularoe.com/carly, to see what they say about the Carly!

Carly runs big so size down one to two sizes. I am normally an 8/10 in dresses so I would need a Small(6-8) or Medium(10-12) Carly according to my size but guess what... I can wear an XS(2-4) Carly! I don't think I've ever fit in an XS anything but hey, I'm defiantly not complaining. I am hoping to try an XXS(00-0) Carly here soon to see how it fits but I'm afraid it may be to short in the front since I'm 5'7 but I will let you know when I do!

I currently have three Carly dresses all of which are XS's and they all fit me a little different.  As you can tell in the picture below:

  • The Red Carly is the biggest in both the front and the back; it is made in Guatemala.
  • The Blue Carly is made in Mexico, it seems to be a little wider than my other Carly's but the high-low hemline isn't as high-low as the other Carly dresses I have.
  • The Brown Carly is made in Vietnam, it is a little more fitted than my other Carly's. It is a little shorter in the front and probably has the most difference in the high-low hemline.
Just like the leggings, the rumors seem to be proving true that LulaRoe made in Vietnam are running small for the most part. Personally I don't mind the smaller fit since Carly is so big anyways but it may play a roll depending on the item and size you are purchasing, how you want it to fit and how you want to style it. These three Carly dresses are all made out of the same material and are the same size but fit me differently which makes it hard to decide on a size. The benefit of Carly is that most people and body types can fit in several different sizes when it comes to Carly. I currently have only tried an XS Carly which is a little to baggy for my liking and a Medium Carly that swallowed me and looked like I was wearing a night gown but I have seen people that are a size 14/16 able to wear an XS to XL Carly. If you are unsure of what size you need, contact your consultant and they will be able to help you find the perfect fit for you!

Carly is the most versatile and most comfortable dress that LulaRoe has. Carly is so versatile because you can wear more than one size for different looks and the extra fabric making Carly a swing dress allows you to knot the dress in several different ways. The most basic Carly hack is knotting your dress in different locations. You can knot the middle of the dress or the bottom of the dress to make it a little shorter. You can pull more material and make a larger knot to one or both sides of your Carly and pair it with leggings. If you go up a size you may even be able to knot the sleeves. Basically you can knot your Carly anywhere you want and depending on how you knot it you can turn it into a tunic top or a regular top. You can have a variation of the knot by making cool designs such as flowers, bows, circles, etc... by gathering the extra material different ways and adding hair-ties to hold them together. You can belt your Carly, pull it up and fold it over to make the dress appear different. You can also turn your Carly into a wrap dress by pulling all the extra material to one side and wrapping it across the front of your body then using a hair-tie to gather and hold the material together on the inside of your dress. I've seen several tutorials using coasters, quarters and clips to add different designs and patterns in both the front and back of the Carly. You can add belts, scarfs, pins or poppyclips to style your Carly however you want. I've even seen someone wear a petticoat under their Carly to give it a completely different look by making it look fancy, the possibilities are endless! To find more ways to style or hack your Carly all you have to do is type in "LulaRoe Carly hacks" or "How to wear a LulaRoe Carly" into your search engine and several pictures, videos and tutorials should pop up. There are tons and tons of Carly hacks out there, these eight don't even begin to cover all the different ways you can style and hack your Carly dress but it's a start.

Not only is Carly super versatile but Carly pairs well with a couple of LulaRoe's other products. Carly pairs really well with LulaRoe leggings and cover ups - Sarah, Lindsay, Monroe, Joy. Carly even looks cute paired with the Cassie pencil skirt or a LulaRoe top - Classic, Randy, Irma depending on the colors, patterns and how you knot it. So get creative and style/hack your Carly to suit you and your body!

Julia

The Julia dress is a form fitting dress perfect for showing off your silhouette. It hits right around your knees length wise and has mid-length sleeves. Picture a long Randy and you have Julia. The Julia sizes range from XXS(00-0) to 3XL(24-26). The Julia retails for $45 plus state taxes and shipping. Visit LulaRoe's website, lularoe.com/julia, to see what they say about the Julia!

Julia runs pretty true to size but if you don't want it to appear fitted then you need to go up a size. Julia actually comes in my size. I wear an 8/10 in dresses and can wear a Medium(8-10) Julia. The only problem I have run into so far, just like several of LulaRoe's other products, was that the Julia's I have are different lengths.  Both the blue and black Julia pictured are a Medium, yet the blue one is two to three inches longer than the black Julia. The blue Julia falls just below my knees and the black Julia falls just above my knees. I am 5'7 and personally like to wear my dresses above my knees so liked the fit and feel of the black Julia better. When it comes to Julia you may need to try her on since the sizes are inconsistent because some are a little too big, while others of that same size are not so forgiving. The size inconsistency could be because LulaRoe products are made all around the world.

Another thing to keep an eye on while shopping for Julia is the patterns and colors. Like any item, the color and pattern can draw attention to all the wrong places. My solid blue Julia tends to show off all my curves where as the pattern in the black Julia does a lot better job at hiding them.

Julia isn't as versatile as the Carly dress but you can still dress her up or down. The main thing you can do with your Julia is change the length. You can change the length of your Julia dress two different ways. You can pull/scrunch Julia up a little to make the dress shorter or you can fold the bottom under and smooth it out to make the dress into a tunic top or a top that resembles the Randy Baseball  T.  Dress your Julia up or down by adding accessories such as belts, necklaces, scarfs; flats, heels, boots, converse. Pictured below are the different lengths you can make your Julia.

Julia isn't the most versatile dress but Julia pairs pretty well with LulaRoe's cover ups - Sarah & Joy and the Cassie pencil skirt. You can wear Cassie over Julia with a little bit of Julia showing at the bottom to help blend the colors/patterns, you can wear Cassie completely over the bottom of Julia or you can wear Cassie as an infinity scarf with Julia. I'm sure some of LulaRoe's other skirts such as the Madison, Jill or Lola would look really nice paired with Julia as well.

Mommy & Me - Nicole & Dot Dot Smile

LulaRoe carries both adult and children's dresses and if you are lucky, you may be able to find a Mommy & Me set. If consultants get products that have the same pattern or match they will usually pair them together in their Mommy & Me albums. Keep in mind that the consultants do not get to pick the patterns, colors or material of their products so you may have to check out several different consultant's albums to find matching products.

Nicole

The Nicole dress is a very comfortable, very flattering, light weight dress. Nicole is designed to have a fitted body with a full skirt and mid-length sleeves. The Nicole sizes range from XXS(00-0) to 3XL(24-26). The Nicole retails for $48 plus state taxes and shipping. Visit LulaRoe's website, lularoe.com/nicole, to see what they say about the Nicole!

I consider the Nicole dress to be a more relaxed, fun and comfortable version of Amelia. I consider Nicole to be more fun because the skirt has several loose pleats that make the dress perfect for twirling. It is also super lightweight so even though it has mid-length sleeves, it is breezy and perfect for spring or summer. Nicole seems to run true to size, if not a little big. This is the only Nicole I have tried and it is made out of the super stretchy material that my Azure and Maxi are made out of. I wear an 8/10 in most dresses so like the majority of LulaRoe products I fall in-between sizes. I am wearing a Medium(10-12) Nicole and it is a little big on me but that may be because of the material of my Nicole. By my understanding Nicole's come in a couple different kinds of materials so depending on the material you may need to get a different size.  I could honestly probably fit into a Small(6-8) Nicole, especially if it is the same stretchy material as this Nicole.

Dot Dot Smile (discontinued)

The Dot Dot Smile aka The Lucy Dress is the kids version of the Nicole dress. It has a flare skirt that is perfect for twirling. The Dot Dot Smile sizes range from a kids 2(2T-4) to a kids 12/14. The Dot Dot Smile retails for $36 plus state taxes and shipping. I believe the Dot Dot Smile dress was discontinued in late summer/early fall of 2016.

My daughter is newly three in the pictures and is wearing a size 2 Dot Dot Smile. As soon as we put it on her she started twirling and smiling, she didn't want to take it off!

Hopefully this blog helped you get a better understanding of what dresses LulaRoe has, how they fit and different ways to wear/style/hack your dresses. As you can tell LulaRoe dresses all look and run different; they come in different materials, styles, sizes, and colors - patterns and solids. LulaRoe is designed to fit several different body types and all items fit people differently depending on their build and the size of the item. LulaRoe is also designed so that you can fit in several different sizes to give off different looks, especially the Carly and Julia, so if you happen to come across a pattern you love but it isn't your size you may be able to still make it work. Before you buy make sure to check out each item's size chart and how that specific item runs because each LulaRoe item has it's own size chart and some items run big, some run small and others run true to size.

LulaRoe products in general really aren't that bad appearance wise, I just hate that their size charts are so random and their products are not consistent with each other size wise and material wise so it makes it hard to shop online since everything fits completely different but I think that is online shopping in general. Every item has it's pros and cons and everybody has a different sense of fashion so it may take a while to find an item you really love. Overall I would recommend giving LulaRoe a try if you can afford it. Yes I think most of their items are overpriced but like I said before, several chain store dresses are priced the same, if not higher and make mass amounts of dresses where as LulaRoe has a limited number in their patterns so you are less likely to run into someone wearing the same exact dress as you.

If you are still unsure about LulaRoe's dresses and sizes then visit a "pop up" boutique in your area and try on some different styles to figure out what size and style you prefer for your body type, then go online and join a bunch of consultant's groups and enter contest in hopes of winning LulaRoe or Lulacash that way if you end up not liking the products, you aren't out as much money, if any.

LulaRoe Part 4: Skirts - different ways to style Azure, Cassie, Jill & Maxi

This is part 4 of a series of blogs I am writing on LulaRoe and the products they make. This blog is going to focus on LulaRoe Skirts - what they are and different ways to wear an Azure, Cassie, Jill & Maxi skirt.

LulaRoe currently has seven adult skirts and three kid's skirts.  Each skirt varies in length, material, style, size and price.
  • Azure - $35
  • Cassie - $35
  • Jill - $55
  • Lola - $46
  • Lucy - $52
  • Madison - $46
  • Maxi - $42
  • Kid's Azure - $25
  • Kid's Cassie - $24
  • Kid's Maxi - $28 *discontinued

Above is a picture of the different lengths and widths of the four different skirts I currently own. All four of the LulaRoe skirts pictured are a size Medium. The blue skirt on top is a Cassie pencil skirt, the two under it re Jill and Azure. As you can tell they both flare out the same distance but look completely different on. The bottom skirt is a Maxi. I hope this picture helps give you a better understanding of the difference in the skirts.

I personally do not own the Lola, Lucy, Madison or any of the Kid's Skirts so I will not be touching on them in this blog but you can find out more information about them on LulaRoe's websitelularoe.comor an internet search. I am dying to try a Madison so if I end up getting her or any of the other skirts I will update my blog with them!

Azure

The Azure sizes range from XXS(00-0) to 3XL(24-26). I've noticed that there are two different size charts floating around out there so I'm not sure exactly which one is correct but I decided to go with a medium Azure which I thought was a 6-8 but might actually be a 10-12. I want to say the Azure runs true to size since I seem to be a Medium in most LulaRoe skirts but I can't be sure since I've only tried a Medium Azure, either way I fall in-between sizes so I can most likely wear a small and a medium Azure. The Azure retails for $35 plus state taxes and shipping. Visit LulaRoe's website, lularoe.com/azure, to see what they say about the Azure!

The Azure I am wearing is a size Medium and is made out of a knit material that makes it super stretchy and lightweight. This is an A-line skirt with a yoga style waistband. The medium is a little big on me mainly because of the stretchy material so if they come in different materials then you may need different sizes; I honestly probably needed a Small in this material but a Medium will have to do! I personally feel like the Azure is overpriced and that it is a shorter version of the Maxi skirt...shouldn't it be half the price two? Azure is more versatile than other skirts but you can't wear it as many ways as I would like because of it's length.

You can style the Azure skirt in several different ways, here are some ideas: high waisted shirt tucked in, low waisted shirt tucked in, as a dress, halter top, knotted top, dress with leggings (I don't have any that match so I paired it with jeans but it would be a super cute outfit!), shawl, cover, mid waisted shirt untucked (Perfect T & Azure). You can also fold over the waistband to make the skirt shorter or tighter. I personally prefer Azure as a top to a skirt. My favorite ways to wear Azure are as a dress, as a knotted top or paired with a Perfect T - the flowingness of the Perfect T and Azure run perfect together! I'm sure there are several other ways to wear an Azure but these are just a few ways to help you get started!

Cassie (Pencil Skirt)

Cassie is a fitted pencil skirt that you can dress up or dress down. Cassie isn't like most pencil skirts because it comes in a stretchy, textured material or at least all the one's I've seen do. The Cassie sizes range from XS(2-4) to 3XL(24-26). Some of the Cassie's run true to size while others are made with more of a jacquard type fabric that makes them run a little smaller so depending on the fabric you may need to go up a size. The Cassie retails for $35 plus state taxes and shipping. Visit LulaRoe's website, lularoe.com/cassie to see what they say about the Cassie!

I was super excited to try Cassie because I loved how it looked in all the pictures. I was unsure of what size I would need because I couldn't find any information on how they ran and like most of LulaRoe's products, I fall in-between sizes. When I opened my Lula package I was very disappointed because I was sent the wrong size, an XS(2-4). I was able to squeeze into an XS but I personally didn't feel comfortable in it because it was tighter than I wanted. Next I tried a Small(6-8). I loved the pattern of it(blue/pink pictured right) but was still unsure of the size, mainly because I still have a little baby belly so am not currently use to tighter clothes. As far as the small hot pink zebra pattern, I couldn't pass it up! The Medium(10-12) Cassie is defiantly bigger than the small, as you can tell in the picture to the right comparing a small and medium Cassie. The Medium is slightly loose on me but it's just the right amount of big to tuck a shirt into it. I am still unsure if I like the fit of the small or medium Cassie better because they both fit pretty well so if you happen to fall in love with a pattern you can most likely comfortably fit in more than one size! As far as material goes, Cassie was thicker than I was expecting. Out of the four skirts I own (Cassie, Azure, Jill, Maxi), this is the thickest one, I would compare it to at least double or triple the thickness of those bod-con skirts that use to be popular - totally different material and a lot nicer fit though

Yes Cassie is considered a pencil skirt but you can also wear Cassie as a tube top or an infinity scarf.  Simply place the waistband around your chest to wear Cassie as a tube top, add a belt, cardigan, necklace, etc... to dress it up or down. To turn Cassie into an infinity scarf just fold in the top and bottom of the Cassie and bunch it together so you don't see the white inside of the skirt.

Cassie isn't super versatile when it comes to ways to wear it but it is super versatile when it comes to ways to style it. Cassie pairs great with all the LulaRoe tops. Yes you can mix and match all the LuLaRoe products but mix and matching with Cassie is my favorite so far. Cassie goes great with a Classic T, Perfect T, Irma, and even Lindsay. You can also wear Cassie paired with a knotted Carly, Cassie as a scarf with Amelia or Nicole; you can ever wear Cassie with a Maxi by wearing Cassie as a tube top and Maxi as a skirt just be careful that the materials don't clash (Not pictured because I didn't have a Cassie and Maxi that matched). Below are pictures of Cassie paired with different LulaRoe items to help show you some different ways to style your Cassie. I think my favorite is Cassie paired with a knotted Irma.

Jill

The Jill is a pleated skirt made of CVC and Rose skin. It also has a thick, black, elastic waist band that allows for you to easily move the skirt up or down to create a different look. The Jill sizes range from XXS(00-0) to 32XL(20-22). The Jill runs true to size. The Jill retails for $55 plus state taxes and shipping. Visit LulaRoe's website, lularoe.com/maxi (yes I know it says Maxi but it takes you to the Jill so I guess LulaRoe messed up their title...oops), to see what they say about the Jill!

Guess what... I actually fall into Jill's size range and not in-between sizes like all the other skirts I have tried. Pictured is a Medium(8-10) Jill. At first I was hesitant on this skirt because I don't think I have ever worn pleated anything but I gave it a try and it honestly isn't that bad. I wear a size 9 jeans and an 8/10 dress and the medium Jill fit me perfect. The fabric is very light and breezy so it is perfect for those spring and summer days. So far the only thing I have not liked about the Jill is that it is supper clingy and kept sticking to my body so I had to get a fabric sheet to remove some of the static. The Jill isn't very versatile but the elastic band does allow for you to adjust the skirt length wise and even turn it into a cute dress. Below is the Jill placed at my hips, below my chest, and above my chest to make it look like a dress.

As far as styling goes, I tried the basics by tucking my shirt in or leaving it untucked. I even added a Lindsay to try and give it a different look.

Maxi

The Maxi skirt was the first product LulaRoe launched. LulaRoe advertises the Maxi as a floor length skirt but it can also be worn as a dress, top, cover, scarf, etc. The Maxi is LulaRoe's most versatile product. The Maxi sizes range from XXS(00-0) to 3XL(24-26). The Maxi retails for $42 plus state taxes and shipping. Visit LulaRoe's website, lularoe.com/maxi, to see what they say about the Maxi!
LulaRoe Maxi skirt material comparison, LulaRoe Maxi skirt, material comparison, LulaRoe Maxi
Pictured: Small Maxi
The Maxi supposedly runs big so consultants recommend sizing down one or two sizes depending on the material. I personally don't think it runs that big. I currently am a size 9 jeans, 8/10 dress and am 5'7. The Maxi size charts say that a Smal is a 6-8 and a Medium is a 10-12. As usual, I fall in-between sizes but I can comfortably wear a Small(6-8) Maxi. The only reason I can think consultants say Maxi runs big is because the average height of a woman is 5'4 and as you can tell the Maxi touches the floor on me. I guess depending on your height, length wise you may need to go down one or two sizes but width wise I would only go down one if at all. If you need the width but not the length you can always hack your Maxi by folding over the waistband.

I don't know much about fabric types but both the red/black and feather Maxi are made out of 96% Polyester & 4% Spandex yet they are both completely different fabrics. The red/black Maxi feels more like a t-shirt material that doesn't stretch and the feather Maxi feels softer, silkier and stretches like crazy (same material as my Azure). You can't really tell the difference in the picture comparing the materials but you can tell in the picture above it where I am wearing both of them. If you look closely, the red/black Maxi looks white in my hip area. It looks like that because the fabric is not that stretchy so by stretching it, you can see the white backing showing through.

The Maxi is the most versatile product that LulaRoe has. Pictured below are twenty, yes twenty different ways to wear the Maxi, and guess what... there are MORE! These are just some of the ways to wear your Maxi, who knew a skirt could be so versatile?!?! I'm going to briefly touch on the different ways to wear your Maxi skirt but if you google "ways to wear LulaRoe Maxi" you will get several video tutorials on exactly how to hack your Maxi.

I put my hair up on purpose to give you a better idea of how to hack your Maxi and what it will look like. Since it is hard to see some of the ways to wear your Maxi above, here are some close ups. LulaRoe advertises Maxi as a skirt and this is what it looks like as a skirt. You can tuck your shirt in, leave your shirt untucked, belt it, knot your shirt or even knot your Maxi. I am wearing a Small Classic T and a Small Maxi (stretchy material) in the pictures labeled Maxi as a skirt.

Maxi can also be worn as a dress. Below are ten different ways you can turn LulaRoe's Maxi skirt into a dress. I will try to describe how to hack your maxi so it looks like the dresses/tops pictured.

Dresses drom left to right:
1. Place the waistband above your chest and you have a dress.
2. Place the waistband above your chest and knot the bottom of your Maxi.
3. Place the waistband above your chest, make bunny ears with the middle part of your Maxi and wrap a hair-tie around the bunny ears. Carefully spread out the two bunny ears and you have what looks like a bow. Sorry it's hard to tell because of the pattern.
4. Place the waistband above your chest, add a thin belt around your waist, pull the Maxi up through the belt till it is at a length you like and let it hang over the belt. This is one way to shorten it. The pattern helps it all blend together.
5. To be honest I don't remember exactly how I hacked the Maxi for this dress but I believe I put the Maxi on upside-down so the waistband was around my thighs then I tucked the bottom part of the Maxi (now top) into the inside and added a belt to hold it together.

Dresses from left to right:
1. Place the waistband around your thighs (Upside Down Maxi), pull the material into two sections and knot it or tie it with a hair-tie around your neck.
2. Place the waistband around your thighs (Upside Down Maxi), pull the material into two sections, cross the two sections in front of your neck then knot it or tie it with a hair-tie around your neck.
3. Place one arm and your head through the waistband, pull the material up so your arm is out the other side. Add a belt to hold the material together. Pull the back material as far as you can to the front then pull the front material as far as you can to the back so it overlaps, covering your side.
4. Place the waistband around your thighs (Upside Down Maxi), pull the front and back of the material together over your shoulder and tie. Repeat for the other shoulder.
5. Place the waistband around your thighs (Upside Down Maxi), pull part of the front and back of the material together over your shoulder and tie. pull the rest together by your elbow and tie. Repeat for the other arm. You may need to go up a size for this dress.

I am wearing a small, stretchy Maxi and was able to hack it to make theses dresses. I had to use hair-ties or the small plastic hair-ties to tie parts of the Maxi together though because I didn't have enough material to knot it. It could be due to my height though but if you want to be able to tie your Maxi by knotting it and not using hair-ties then I recommend going up a size, especially if the Maxi is not made out of this stretchy material. I hacked my red/black Maxi to make several of theses dresses but wasn't a fan because the material was harder to tie, tighter in the waistband and because of the material you could see the white backing of the dress through it. The picture to the right is a picture of the red/black Maxi. If you look close at the bottom you can see the white showing through it.
Tops, Covers, Scarf:
Left: 1. Place the waistband around your neck to make it look like a shawl.
2.Place the waistband around your waist but upside down, pull the material in the back up and over your shoulders, wrapping it under your arms and knot or tie the sides together with a hair-tie in the back. You may need to go up a size for this top.

Middle:  1. Place the waistband around your waist but upside down, pull the material into two sections and knot it or tie it with a hair-tie around your neck. (same as the first dress pictured above)
           2. Place the waistband around your chest, grab the front of the Maxi and bunch up the material, pull it over your head to the back of your neck (it should look like the bottom right picture). Position the material over your chest, overlapping the sides and add a belt to hold it.

Right:1. Roll and twist the Maxi until you like the way it looks and wear it as an infinity scarf.
          2. Place the waistband around your chest, grab the front of the Maxi and bunch up the material, pull it over your head to the back of your neck.

Sorry if the descriptions are confusing but it's hard to explain without showing you. If you need help you can always look up Maxi hacks on the internet. As you can tell the Maxi is very versatile and looks great several different ways. The Maxi would make for a great piece to pack for a vacation that you are unsure what you are doing as you can dress it up or down for any occasion. I would recommend finding a cute print and giving Maxi a try, if you think about it you are paying $42 for 20+ different looks which isn't bad at all!

Hopefully this blog helped you get a better understanding of what skirt LulaRoe has, how they fit and different ways to wear/style/hack your skirts. As you can tell LulaRoe skirts all run different. They come in different materials, styles, sizes, and colors - patterns and solids. I feel like LulaRoe skirts vary the most when it comes to material and styles. LulaRoe clothing is considered unique because they only produce about 2,500 items in a specific print so if you happen to come across a pattern you like I recommend buying it because once it is gone, it may be gone forever.

Overall I would recommend giving LulaRoe a try if you can afford it. Yes I think most of their items are overpriced but I'm also a super big clearance shopper and some of LulaRoe items aren't that bad.

This is part 3 of a series of blogs I am writing on LulaRoe and the products they make. This blog is going to focus on LulaRoe tops and a few different ways to style them.

LulaRoe has several different style tops. The women's tops range from size XXS (00-0) to 3XL (24-26). The men's tops range from M to 3XL and the kid's tops range from size 2/4 to 14/16. Each top varies in size and price.

  • Irma - $35
  • Perfect Tee - $36
  • Classic Tee - $35
  • Randy (Baseball Tee)- $35
  • Patrick (Men's short sleeve) -$40
  • Mark (Men's long sleeve) - $42
  • Gracie (Kids version of Irma) - $28
  • Sloan (Kids version of Randy) - $28

The Patrick and Mark are advertised as men's tops but can be worn by women as dresses or tunic tops. I personally do not own the men's or kid's tops so I will not be touching on them in this blog. If you want to know more about the Patrick, Mark, Gracie or Sloan Tee I would google styling tips as LulaRoe's website just shows you what they look like.

LulaRoe currently has four women's tops. It is rumored they are releasing two new styles but I don't know what they will be. I'm hopping they will be a top and a dress but we have to wait to see! (I was wrong... one is a Kimono) The four tops vary from tunic tops to baseball tees and every top has a different size chart. Some of the tops run true to size and others run big. They also all come in different materials, colors and patterns giving you a wide variety to shop from. LulaRoe's tops are designed to fit several different body styles so you can wear more than one size depending on what look you want. I usually wear an XS Irma, XS Perfect, Small or Medium Classic T and a Medium Randy. I have considered getting a Large Randy for length to pair with leggings.

Above is a picture to compare the lengths and widths of an XS Irma, XS Perfect T and a Small Classic T. I tried to add Randy but the sleeves basically covered the rest and the shirt itself was covered as Randy is a straight, fitted top. Below is a picture of the four tops side by side to give you a better understanding of the different lengths and styles.

As you can tell the Irma is the longest and biggest LulaRoe top and the Randy is the shortest and smallest LulaRoe Top.

Irma

The Irma is LulaRoe's most popular and most versatile top. The Irma is a tunic top making it a great top to pair with leggings. The sizes range from XXS (00-0) to 3XL(26+).  Irma's run big so size down one or two sizes. I wear an XS(2-6) Irma. The Irma retails for $35 plus state taxes and shipping. Visit LulaRoe's website, lularoe.com/irma, to see what they say about Irma! If you are petite, you may be able to fit into a kid's Gracie size 14(14-16). Gracie looks like Irma but is cheaper since it's a kid's top.

I currently have five different Irma's and they all fit me completely different. As you can see in the picture below they are all different lengths and pull in different areas. All of the Irma's I have seem to be made out out of the same material as the all feel the same but I haven't checked the tags. I've been told that some Irma's are made in legging or silky material. I also heard the silky Irma's run small, especially in the arms so make sure to ask your consultant what material it is and if it's true to size before you purchase one.

LulaRoe Irma's all fit differently, LulaRoe Irma, LulaRoe Irma fit, LulaRoe Irma make, LulaRoe Irma material, is there a difference in LulaRoe Irma's, Irma's, Irma
Pictured: XS Irma

Keep in mind that Irma'a run big so you will need to size down. I am 5'7 and an XS Irma is long on me. According to the size chart I would need a Small(8-10) Irma but I can comfortably wear an XS Irma. To be honest an XS is bigger on me than I would like but I can't wear an XXS because the arms are too tight on me. Irma's pair great with leggings because it covers your booty. I like the Irma top because it is so versatile.  You can wear/style the Irma so many more ways but below are twelve different ways to wear your Irma. I wore it the other day tucked into my jeans and it was super cute! (pictured below).

You can wear your Irma as is, knotted on the side, as a shrug, as a tube top and belted, one shoulder top, tube top tied in the front or back, or a halter top (sleeves ties around neck). You can even wear it as a skirt or dress. I would recommend going up a size if you want to wear Irma as a halter top because it was hard to tie the sleeves; or dress as it is a little short in the front.

Here is a close up of Irma as a tube top. If you size up, it would make a super cute summer dress. This is an XS, I would probably need a Small to wear it as a dress but I am also 5'7 so it may fit you perfectly.

To turn Irma into a tube top, place the neckline around your chest then you can tuck the sleeves in and belt it or you can tie the sleeves in the front or in the back to give it a different look. Lose the leggings and you have a cute summer dress.

Here is a close up of Irma as a skirt. Pretty much you do the same thing you would do for a tube top but put the neckline around your waist instead of your chest.  If you tuck in the sleeves and tie a knot, you will have pockets in your skirt.

As you can tell the Irma is super versitale and I'm sure there are tons of other ways to wear/style your Irma that I did not include. You can belt it or knot it to create a different look. I think my favorite ways to wear Irma is one shoulder, a shrug, loosely tucked into jeans, normal or paired with Cassie.

Perfect T

The Perfect T sizes range from XXS(00-6) to 3XL(24-26). The Perfect T retails for $36 plus state taxes and shipping. Visit LulaRoe's website, lularoe.com/perfect, to see what they say about the Perfect T!

The Perfect T seems to be true to size as far as the numbered sizes go. On average I wear an 8/10 or a S/M top in woman's sizes and I can wear an XS(4-10) Perfect T. I haven't tried any other size Perfect T's because I am happy with how the XS fits me but keep in mind that LulaRoe styles are made to fit more than one body size so you can most likely fit in more than one size Perfect T depending on how you want it to look.

The Perfect T is my favorite of the four tops. The Perfect T has slits up the sides to create a nice flowing bottom making it a great top to pair with leggings. The flowingness of the top is very flattering and makes for a great top as well as a great postpartum top. The slits also allow for an easy style change by tying the two sides of the slit together thus creating knots on both sides. This look draws more attention to your hips. You can also wear it knotted to one side or wear it as a tube top. To turn the Perfect T into a tube top, pull the neckline to your chest, tuck the sleeves in and add a belt. You can also tie the Perfect T in the back to make it look more fitted, roll the sleeves up, add a belt, etc... to give off a different look. I've even considered sizing up two sizes to see what it looks like as a dress (the XS is to short in the front to wear as a dress on me but I'm also 5'7). The Perfect T is a very versatile top,  you can pretty much wear the Perfect T most of the same ways as the Irma (pictured above).

LulaRoe Perfect T, LulaRoe, Perfect T, LulaRoe Perfect T material, difference in LulaRoe top material, LulaRoe different materials, LulaRoe material reviewI have three different Perfect T's and they are all a different material. One feels like a regular cotton/polyester blend, one has a ribbed pattern on it, and one feels like leggings material. I haven't noticed much of a difference in fit between the different materials although the legging material Perfect T tends to cling to my body more.

My favorite ways to wear the Perfect T are as is with leggings, as is over an Azure skirt, or knotted on both sides over a Cassie or jeans.

Classic T

The Classic T resembles a light t-shirt with a slightly longer back. The Classic T sizes range from XXS(00-0) to 3XL(24-26). The Classic T retails for $35 plus state taxes and shipping. Visit LulaRoe's website, lularoe.com/classic, to see what they say about the Classic T!

The Classic T is true to size. I currently wear a size 8-10 so I fall in-between a small and medium. I have been getting a Small(6-8) Classic T in hopes of loosing some baby weight but I am thinking about trying a Medium(10-12) Classic T in hopes of it covering more of my booty when paired with leggings because the small isn't as long as I had hopped. I personally think LulaRoe should of named the Classic T the Perfect T because it is seriously the perfect t-shirt fit. It is light, comfortable and loose in all the right places. The Classic T can be dressed up or dressed down. It comes in all different colors, patterns and materials. If you look closely at the second picture below, the dark grey at the top of the light grey Classic T is legging material and the rest is polyester so LulaRoe also mixes the material. Out of all my Classic T's, I have four different materials. I have a heathered red Classic T that is thinner than the ones pictured. My latest Classic T is a dark grey, super thin, partially see though material and it is shorter than all my other Classic T's I have. All of the Classic T's I have are a size small. All of the Classic T's fit the same except the dark grey one (not pictured) made in Mexico. I'm not sure if it's smaller because of wear it's made or the material used but I would make sure to ask what material your Classic T is before you purchase it so you don't end up with one thats to small. If you are sizing up then it shouldn't matter.

Since the Classsic T's I have vary the most material wise, I decided to share what the tops are made from:
LulaRoe Classic T, LulaRoe, Classic T, LulaRoe Classic T material, difference in LulaRoe top material, LulaRoe different materials, LulaRoe material review
  • Red Heathered Classic T - 50% Polyester, 38% Cotton, 12 % Rayon
  • Teal with Black Trim - 96% Polyester, 4% Spandex
  • Dark Grey (see though in parts and small) - 48% Polyester, 48% Rayon, 4% Spandex
  • Green & Black Floral - 48% Cotton, 48% Modal, 4% Spandex

When it comes to styling your Classic T you can pretty much wear it normal, tuck it in or tie a knot in the side. In order to make the Classic T more versatile you will have to purchase a bigger size. Going up one size will make it a little longer. Go up two sizes allows you to make a bigger knot. Go up three or four sizes to wear your Classic T as a dress or off the shoulder top. You can also reverse your larger Classic T to create a low cut back. By reversing the Classic T, it allows for extra material in the front, making a cute maternity top for all you expectant mothers. I do not currently have a bigger size Classic T so you will have to google "LulaRoe backwards Classic T" in hopes of seeing what it looks like.

Randy (Baseball T)

The Randy is a unisex, quarter sleeve shirt that resembles a Baseball T. Most Randy's have contrasting patterns on the sleeves but I've seen a few solids with solid sleeves or solids with two contrasting strips on the sleeves. I've even seen a few with lace sleeves that I'm assuming are LulaRoe unicorns. The sizes range from XXS(00-0) to 3XL(24-26). The Randy retails for $35 plus state taxes and shipping. Visit LulaRoe's website, lularoe.com/randy, to see what they say about Randy!

The Randy has the same size charts as the Classic T and like the Classic T, I fall in-between sizes;  Small(6-8) and Medium(10-12). A lot of people say Randy runs true to size but I personally think it runs small so I would recommend going up a size unless you like fitted shirts. I am wearing a Medium Randy in the pictures below and have considered getting a Large Randy to pair with leggings  since the Medium isn't as long as I had hoped. I was super excited to try the Randy because I love Baseball T's but to be honest I was disappointed. Maybe my standards were set to high but Randy is now probably my least favorite LulaRoe top. The picture below shows two different material Randy tops. I'm sure there are other material Randy tops out there but these are the only two I have tried. The grey and purple top has a solid base and pattern sleeves as most Randys do. I was disappointed in this Randy because the material is super thin and it feels cheaply made. The blue and grey Randy is a nicer, thicker material. Its hard to tell by the pictures but the blue one is longer and looser than the purple and grey Randy. If you purchase a Randy I recommend purchasing one in the thicker material.

If your consultant or you aren't sure about the thickness, the material on the tags read:

  • Grey and Purple (thinner) - 50% Polyester, 33% Cotton, 12% Rayon
  • Blue and Grey (thicker) - 48% Cotton, 48% Polyester, 4% Spandex

The Randy is considered to be a unisex top because both men and women can wear it. Several of the patterns are more feminine but there are several solids and darker colors out there that men can wear. LulaRoe also makes a kid's style called Sloan that is basically a kid's Randy. The Sloan size 14(14-16) can fit petite women as well as kids and is cheaper because it is a kids style.

Hopefully this blog helped you get a better understanding of what tops LulaRoe has, how they fit and different ways to wear your tops. As you can tell LulaRoe tops all run different. They come in different materials, styles, sizes, and colors - patterns and solids. LulaRoe clothing is considered unique because they only produce about 2,500 items in a specific print so if you happen to come across a pattern you like I recommend buying it because once it is gone, it may be gone forever. LulaRoe is designed to fit several different body types and all items fit people differently depending on their build and the size of the item. LulaRoe is also designed so that you can fit in several different sizes to give off different looks so if you happen to come across a pattern you love but it isn't your size you may be able to still make it work. You can hack several of LulaRoe tops by adding belts, tucking them in and knotting them; I've even seen people knot the sleeves if the top is to big. Several of the LulaRoe tops make great maternity tops as well because they are loose and comfortable and after you have that little bundle of joy, they will do a great job hiding that postpartum baby belly.

I personally think LulaRoe's tops are overpriced, especially the men's tops as I have bought similar shirts to the Classic T and Randy for under $10 and similar shirts to the Mark and Patrick for under $15 at other stores. I also do not like that the tops are made all over the world and come in all different materials making some appear thinner and cheaper than other tops of the same style. It makes it hard to shop when you can't see, feel, and try the product on especially when they aren't all made the same. After looking at several of the tags, I noticed the shirts made with a higher percentage of Rayon were thinner than the Polyester/Cotton blends. I also noticed that tops made with higher percentages of Modal or Polyester tended to be softer and closer to legging material so if you are afraid of purchasing a thinner top I recommend asking your consultant what the top is made of. Hopefully your consultant will be more than happy to help with any questions you have regarding the LulaRoe items they carry.

The benefit of LulaRoe tops are that they are comfortable and some of them are super cute while others, not so much. Another benefit of LulaRoe tops are that most of them, especially the Irma and Perfect T, are very versatile and can be worn several different ways so people may think you have more clothes than you really do.  There are pros and cons to everything so you have to make the final decision on if you want to spend $35 and try a LulaRoe top. If you are still unsure, then visit a "pop up" boutique in your area and try on all the different styles to figure out what size and style you prefer for your body type, then go online and join a bunch of consultant's groups and enter contest in hopes of winning LulaRoe or Lulacash that way if you end up not liking the products, you aren't out as much money, if any. I also recommend looking for Muli-consultant sales or consultants that have Bargain Bins, offer free shipping or are in a no tax states to help save a few bucks (It is rumored that LulaRoe is changing taxes to match the shoppers state tax no matter what state you purchase from). Overall I would recommend adding two or three LulaRoe tops to your wardrobe if you can afford them. I would recommend adding a Perfect T or Irma because they are more versatile than the Classic T and Randy. Plus several stores carry tops similar to the Classic T and Randy. If I end up getting any different sizes I will update my blog to help show you the difference in sizes and possibly a few more ways to wear that style in that size.
